Overview:

In the wake of one of the worst natural disasters in Queensland history, the D’Aguilar Highway through the Blackbutt Range was closed as a result of major landslip damage along an almost a 2.5km stretch of the road. The highway has been reconstructed to 2 lanes.

Reconstruction works to rebuild this important transport route included geotechnical stabilisation works, extensive excavation, drainage and pavement works.

All reconstruction works comply with current road design, safety, geotechnical and environmental standards.

Allens Asphalt performed various services for VDM during the range reconstruction process, ranging from emergency pothole repairs, to selective spray sealing works. The new pavement was finished off with the placement of 10,000 tonnes of asphalt over an 8 week period.
